Anne is a native of Northern Ireland and holds a First Class Honours degree in Performance and an M Mus in Performance (with Distinction) from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). In 1999 Anne was awarded the prestigious Silver Medallion by the Worshipful Company of Musicians. Whilst still a student Anne embarked upon a busy freelance career, playing with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. |
On her return to Ireland, she continued to perform with a variety of ensembles including Camerata Ireland, the RTE National Symphony Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra, the Orchestra of Northern Ireland Opera and the RTE Concert Orchestra.
Anne is also an Associate of the Ulster Orchestra, helping to deliver their education and community engagement programme.
An enthusiastic and passionate educator, past pupils have gone on to win places at Music Colleges and Universities throughout the UK. Anne is an instrumental tutor at Queen's University in Belfast and takes an holistic approach to teaching, believing that we give our best performances when we feel confident, grounded, and supported.
As well as instrumental teaching, Anne is a progressive music facilitator, devising and delivering engaging music workshops for people of all ages and abilities. Her work in this area stems from a belief that participation in music-making is an integral part of our human nature, the benefits of which extend into every area of our lives. She is a founder and Director of Ultonia Arts.
Anne is mother to three young children & is married to viola player Jonathan.
