As well as being a clarinettist, I also enjoy playing other instruments and exploring other ways of communicating. I believe that musicians must be communicators first (hopefully with something to say!), and then we choose the medium through which we communicate...
Playing other instruments (bass clarinet, whistle, harp, saxophone, piano) has enabled me to explore other styles, roles and genres within the musical arts and to expand my own creative practice. I frequently include these instruments in my education and outreach workshops as well as my story-telling.
As a traditional 'teller' of stories, I bring together my passions for landscape, folklore, cultural heritage & music to entertain and educate people of all ages. Stories are not only fun, but they are perhaps more important than ever as we move into an increasingly disconnected and digital world. It is my belief that stories and music remain as essential to human well-being now as they were 10,000 years ago - they are in our DNA!
